Bio:
Rob Vitense grew up in the baseball hotbed of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, where he became the starting catcher for his conference championship varsity team. His passion for baseball continued into his amateur playing career with Sun Prairie Home Talent during his teens and twenties and later with the Coon Rapids (MN) Redbirds in his thirties.
Rob began coaching high school baseball in 1995 as a varsity assistant with the Sun Prairie Cardinals. Over the past 30+ years, he has held numerous coaching roles, including high school varsity baseball head coach, American Legion baseball head coach, high school club baseball head coach, and varsity boys basketball head coach. He currently serves as an assistant varsity coach for the Maple Grove Crimson.
With a degree in Kinesiology from UW-Madison, Rob also taught physical education for 20 years in both Wisconsin and Minnesota. During that time, he took a five-year hiatus to focus on raising his two children before returning to teaching. He joined Pitch 2 Pitch seasonally for eight years before taking on a full-time role in the fall of 2023.
Rob specializes in training catchers, coaching hitters, and helping players improve their efficiency in movement and throwing. He enjoys discussing baseball strategy and trivia with players and guiding high school athletes in their college decision-making process.
Rob and his wife, Holly, have been married for over 20 years and are proud parents of two adult children, one a college baseball player and the other a college softball player.
